The Northern Sydney General Practice Network Inc

The NSGPN is a primarily federally funded health promotion charity that offers support and education to a general practitioner membership (some are out of our local area) of approximately 500. The Network is situated at the L1 134-136 Hampden Rd, Artarmon.

Our geographic area covers the local council areas of Mosman, North Sydney, Lane Cove, Willoughby and a small part of Hornsby Ku-ring-gai. The total population in this area is 216,292. Of this, 67% consist of those born in Australia, with the balance coming from, in descending order, China, Hong Kong, India, Korea, Malaysia, Italy, Germany, Indonesia and the Philippines. Our residents enjoy an above average score of socioeconomic index, compared with the rest of Australia. This translates into relatively fewer people having reported selected chronic disease (eg. asthma or diabetes).

The Network works closely with the Area Health Service, the local hospital, specialists, allied health providers, other Network's, the local councils and a wide range of other not for profit groups.

The Network's mission statement "To improve the health outcomes of the local community by encouraging GPs to work together and with  other health professionals to deliver quality health care" and vision statement "Excellence in general practice - the keystone to primary health care" say it all. We offer a whole of practice support system to our members and their practice staff. The Network's offers a wide range of educational opportunities, from a diverse selection of program areas. These programs include chronic disease management, practice support, women's health, quality use of medicine, information management, immunisation, practice support and aged care. Our education opportunities are available to GPs and their practice staff, and we have recently commenced and exciting new program in community education.
